I’m a Muslim..!

In Islam; Moral Laws will not survive without appropriate Penal Laws.. This is where the pitfalls happened, deviating our marvelous urban and civic achievements and endeavors from the true essence and merits. Not only the recent riots of London were resultant of such critical absence, but also when the passionate expressions for protest or change would step into violent chaotic forms..The history of Mankind was mostly driven by religious fanatics; which had lift great scares in memories and heritage as well. Unfortunately, most of the committed atrocities were justified by twisted religious codes and their associated penal articles of both sides. During the last 30 years, in order to introduce adequate management of the faith issues; academics, educators, psychologists and journalists had collectively downgraded the religious contributions from being epistemic aggregates into ancillary ones..
Notably, all religions would easily exercise the coexistence, yet bargained by their hysterical and radical followers. Overwhelmingly; cautiousness had controlled the religious contents in any debate; which titled the easy choice of media and politicians, rather than battling the incorrectness or deviations within the religious contexts. Ministers of all faiths were also short to emphasis on integration rather than confrontation. Religions were victimized by their own followers, in a spiral syndrome..
When the media community had celebrated the “Raap” as expression form of the new generations, they marked the epistemic anarchy rather than human rights. Raap culture had come with non innovative music, ill phonetics of spoken languages, odd expressions that mix decency with naughtiness, following the violent bullies and only accept mentoring from the gang leaders. Then, authority of elders, parents, teachers, police and intellectuals had systematically destructed..!
Tariq Jahan, who had expressed the common perspective of ordinary Muslim towards life and death matters; was widely celebrated by the Media. It was not the sudden discovery of an unknown side of Muslims and their “confusing” culture; but a shock by spontaneous, naive and authentic reactions in a moment of severe emotional content. No wonder that some columnists would come in a while stigmatizing Mr. Jahan of emotional, parentally and/or psychoneurotic deficiencies..!!
His simple words had concluded the Islamic faith in few minutes. I pit that none of the prominent Muslim scholars would express the same in better and influential words. The whole episode would point to the need to launch more debates not to align religious faiths, but to get to know each other..
The recent riots of London are now pointing to the failure of theories that had condemned the conventional up-bringing and mentoring codes.. Without a penal code, no morals can be established.. Without discipline there is no respect.. Without respect, social order will be a controversial political agenda.. Without social fairness, poverty will never be eliminated.. Nevertheless; Islamic teachings tell that with poverty, all evils are alive..!
The True Islam.. 
مبادئ التسامح الخمسة
قيمة التسامح من القيم السامية في دين الإسلام قال الله تعالى: (ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ) [النحل:125].
وقال: (لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ قَدْ تَبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ) [البقرة:256] وقال: (لَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ أَنْ تَبَرُّوهُمْ وَتُقْسِطُوا إِلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ) [الممتحنة:8]. وقد تحقق التسامح في الإسلام بصورة واضحة سواء التسامح الديني والذي يعني التعايش بين الأديان والمذاهب المختلفة وحرية ممارسة الشعائر الدينية والتخلي عن التعصب الديني والتميز العنصري أو التسامح الفكري بمعنى حرية الحوار والمناقشة والمعارضة مع عدم التعصب للأفكار الشخصية ومنح الحرية في الإبداع والاجتهاد ولقد رسخ الإسلام في قلوب المسلمين تحت شعار التسامح مبادئ رئيسية:
1- الديانات السماوية تستقي من معين واحد قال عز وجل: (شَرَعَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الدِّينِ مَا وَصَّى بِهِ نُوحًا وَالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى وَعِيسَى أَنْ أَقِيمُوا الدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا فِيهِ كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ اللَّهُ يَجْتَبِي إِلَيْهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي إِلَيْهِ مَنْ يُنِيبُ) [الشورى:13].
2- الأنبياء إخوة لا تفاضل بينهم من حيث الرسالة ومن حيث الإيمان بهم قال تعالى: (قُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى وَعِيسَى وَمَا أُوتِيَ النَّبِيُّونَ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ) [البقرة:136].
3- العقيدة لا تنعقد في القلب إلا بالاقتناع العقلي والاطمئنان القلبي وبناء على ذلك جاء النهي عن الإكراه في الاعتقاد حيث قال تعالى: (لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ قَدْ تَبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى لَا انْفِصَامَ لَهَا وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ) [البقرة:256].
4- يجب احترام العباد ورجال الدين وأماكن العبادة علي اختلافها حيث قال تعالى: (وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ اللَّهِ النَّاسَ بَعْضَهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ لَهُدِّمَتْ صَوَامِعُ وَبِيَعٌ وَصَلَوَاتٌ وَمَسَاجِدُ يُذْكَرُ فِيهَا اسْمُ اللَّهِ كَثِيرًا وَلَيَنْصُرَنَّ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ) [الحج:40].
5- حرص القرآن على أن يربي أتباعه على مجادلة المخالفين بالحسنى والعقل بما يعكس روح احترام الآخر واحترام نظرته المختلفة وذلك لأجل إقامة علاقات إنسانية بين الناس على أساس التسامح والسلام قال تعالى: (وَلَا تُجَادِلُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْهُمْ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِالَّذِي أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَهُنَا وَإِلَهُكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ) [العنكبوت:46] وقال تعالى حينما كلف موسى وهارون بالذهاب إلى فرعون وقومه ودعوهما إلى الإيمان بالله: (اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَأَخُوكَ بِآيَاتِي وَلَا تَنِيَا فِي ذِكْرِي * اذْهَبَا إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَى * فَقُولَا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَيِّنًا لَعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَى) [طه:42-44]
وكذلك نرى في القرآن الكريم مثالاً للحوار المتسامح مثل فيه نبي الله إبراهيم نموذجا للتسامح في الحوار ومواجهة صلف الآخر وتعنته بروح مسالمة فقد عرض على أبيه الإيمان بالله وبين له بالعقل والحكمة والموعظة صحة عقيدته، وكان سيدنا إبراهيم حريصاً على تكرار النداء الهادئ مذكراً أبيه بصلة القرابة متألفاً قلبه إليه: يا أبت. وكان رده على توعد أبيه بالرجم: سلام عليك.
إن تحقيق السلام هو غاية جميع العلاقات الإنسانية والتسامح مع الآخرين هو الوسيلة النافعة في تحقيق تلك الغاية وهذه المبادئ الخمسة هي الطريق الأمثل لتأسيس روح التسامح في مجتمعنا المعاصر، اللهم تقبل صالح أعمالنا واغفر لنا وتوفنا مع الأبرار.

This was a blog entry I had mad a year ago, in April 7th, 2008.. I guess during this short period of time, many things took place.. many changes.. some are good, others are not..

This is one of the most successful slogan in recent world.. promoting this multiple-rich-resources country.. which proudly a Muslim one..
I like to re-phrase it to be:
“Malaysia Truly Muslim…”
As usual, I’m not fanatic, nor naive…
Touring this country of ever-smiling faces, had confirmed many interpretations of the lost True Islam…
Yes, being remote from the fanatic Arab world had buffered them from the many infectious cultural illness that already ruined the Middle Eastern Muslims..
Yes, being a rich country, enabled ruling powers to maintain a framework, which is partially controversial and debatable too, however kept them sailing safe so far..
Yes, being a Sunni Muslim, enabled preserving simple essence of early Islam, without fantasies that the mighty and skillful government controls and prohibits..
Anyway.. I like it… Sure you also will do..!!

The Ottoman Empire
The fascinating history of the Ottoman Empire is the subject of a new BBC series fronted by Rageh Omaar. The title of the series tries to sneak in a rather contentious point as a given – Europe’s Muslim Emperors. Some mistake, surely? While large swathes of Europe did fall under Ottoman rule, for centuries this rule was deeply resented, and the powers of Europe, or at least most of them, did their best to expel the invader. Even if the Ottoman Turks may have ruled parts of Europe, their civilisation was not European, but Asiatic. As someone once said: “Turkey has always represented a different continent, in permanent contrast to Europe.” It would make sense to describe the Turkish Sultans not as European, but anti-European.
To be fair, the programme did not gloss over the reasons for Turkish difference. The Ottoman Empire (let us not forget the origins of Turkic peoples in central Asia) had more in common with the Chinese Empire than the Roman. The Topkapi Palace in Istanbul bore more than a passing resemblance to the Forbidden City: both were the preserves of eunuchs and concubines. But the Turkish system was far more ruthless than the Chinese. The concubines were all slaves, and because it was forbidden to enslave one’s fellow Muslims, they were Christians who were enslaved and then forcibly converted to Islam.
As for the civil servants and soldiers of the Empire, they were Christian boys, taken from their homes and converted to Islam by being forcibly circumcised. True, some of these orphans had glittering careers, but this should not disguise the cruelty of the system. This levy, known as the devsirme, carried on until the beginning of the 18th century. This way of recruiting members of the privileged caste, rather than relying on noble families, or feudal loyalties, as in Europe, must have been one of the reasons why the Ottomans were so successful in the short term. There were no better fighters than these traumatised boys, when they grew up. But in the long run one suspects that this practice must have been one of the reasons why the Empire declined so markedly from the late seventeenth century onwards. Cruelty is never a good policy.
The same may well have been true of the dynasty. As a male line the Ottomans endured for centuries, thanks to polygamy, but this came at a high price. The concubines were chosen for their beauty alone, and the claustrophobic atmosphere of the harem was hardly healthy. The death rate among the children these women bore the Sultan was high, perhaps due to poor sanitation, and each reign ended with a massacre of all the new Sultan’s brothers, as possible rivals were eliminated. Mehmed III had nineteen of his half-brothers killed on his accession in 1595. Many of the later Sultans were idle, or half-witted, or both, and quite dominated by their mothers. The later Sultans hardly ever left Istanbul, or indeed the walls of their places. One only has to read the later history of the Ottoman court to realise that polygamy is a very bad thing indeed.
The Ottomans also perfected a divide and rule approach to their subject peoples; they were allowed a certain degree of freedom in return for tribute, and the head of each confessional community would be held accountable for misbehaviour. Hence the hanging of the Orthodox Patriarch Gregory V from his own gateway on Easter Sunday 1821, because he was blamed for the Greek revolt of that year. This sort of multi-culturalism has won a few politically correct admirers in our own times, but it has to be remembered that there was a steady stream of converts to Islam throughout the Balkans, as people wished to evade the tax on non-Muslims, as well as having their sons taken away from them.
And it should not be forgotten that the subject peoples turned against their Turkish overlords in the end; and that the Turks themselves resorted to ethnic cleansing in Anatolia in 1915, massacring one million Armenians. As a multicultural experiment, the Ottoman Empire ended very badly indeed.
It should not be surprising therefore that even today, as the programme made clear, people in the Balkans and Greece regard the Ottoman era as anything but a golden age. Ottoman domination imposed three hundred years of stagnation and decline on parts of the Balkans, and some countries are still perhaps paying a high price for Ottoman rule. This is not to say that Istanbul is not one of the world’s most beautiful and fascinating cities, or that the Turks of today are not charming people. But Mustafa Kemal, who founded modern Turkey, was right, surely, to break with the past, and to reject the Empire and the Ottoman identity so comprehensively. It will be interesting to see how Rageh Omaar deals with that.
